Interracial policy clash tumors in Miami officials

City Manager C P Hart and Police Chief Headley faced a push from the Progressive Committee for racial gatherings without police interference. The American Legion led opposition to such gatherings, urging segregation through a Ne gro committee led by Dr I P Davis with Rev Culmer and Atty L E Thomas to craft a statement after wider leadership input. A debate followed over peaceful assemblies and a past interracial dance sponsored by the Young Progressive of America.

Two Men Held On Burglary Charge

Coral Gables police halted a burglary at Pro-Tect-A Jalousie Corp. 4525 Ponce de Leon Blvd. One man was wounded and another captured while two escaped. Officers led by Chief Kimbrough fired on suspects in the paint room. Hughes and Wright, both 28, were cornered as a Cadillac was found abandoned.

Woman Shot As Police Chase Rape Suspect

A gunfire chase in a northwest city area left Mrs. Doris N. Jones wounded in the abdomen as police pursued Robert Lee Kemp on suspicion of rape and robbery. Kemp fled on NW 17th Ave and 62nd St, a detective confrontation ending with shots at his legs and Jones hospitalized. Bryant D. Tynes, seven, drowned earlier in a rock pit at NW 28th Ave and 72nd St during an unrelated accident.

Ink Spots thrill Miami club as Klan honors elder in Alabama

In Talladega, the Ku Klux Klan presented 107 year old former slave Jack Riddle with a radio after he said sermons had grown too loud to hear.
