Tire Blows Out On Speeding Car Kills Bartender
James Edward Edding, 34, bartender at the Mary Elizabeth Hotel Lounge, dies after a tire blowout at about 12:50 p.m. on Flat State Road 7 near Boynton Beach. The 1953 Cadillac coupe, traveling about 95 mph en route to West Palm Beach, rolled three times into a canal. Three others are injured, including Robert Randall and Miss Bernice Cove. Edding’s body goes to Richardson Funeral Home after treatment at Pineridge Hospital. Funeral set for Bethel AME Church at 2:30 Monday.

Fire Destroys Brown Sub Home In Undetermined Blaze
The home of Mrs. Maria Frederick at 4224 NW 1st Ave was destroyed by fire on Tuesday afternoon. An adjoining house at 4228 occupied by Albert Jackson and Ed Graves was badly damaged. No injuries were reported. The blaze, estimated at $5,000, spread through one story frame buildings. six fire units fought the fire for 45 minutes.

Marine slain in high speed crash near Opa Locka
Staff Sgt. Carl F. Hays 27 a Marine from the corps Air at Opa died in a car crash on State Road 9 near 183rd Street early Tuesday. Investigators say he was speeding over 85 mph when his car struck a bridge abutment and launched about 250 feet across the canal, landing on its top. Survived by wife Mable and one child of 1721 NW 166th St Opa Locka, he was the son of Celeste North of San Antonio Texas. Body to be shipped to Waco Texas by Range Funeral Home for burial.
