FTC Settles With Land Co On Refunds
Washington AP The Federal Trade Commission reached a negotiated settlement with GAC Corp of Miami in a broad land development probe. The accord awards buyers about 2.8 million in cash refunds and 14 million in replacements for Florida and Arizona parcels, while allowing GAC to keep down payments and 30 monthly payments. The deal faces criticism from state and HUD officials who say refunds are too small given an estimated 30 million in losses over six years.
