Million Loot Hidden in Basement after Chicago Cash Heist
FBI and local officials announced about 2.2 million of the 4.3 million stolen in the October cash burglary was recovered under fresh cement in a West Side basement. The haul, largely in $10 and $20 bills, was found in a bungalow owned by Dorothy Marrera, grandmother of one suspect and mother to a relative living nearby. Six men including Ralph Marrera, guard at Purolator Security, were charged with bank larceny and burglary. The stolen funds are partly recovered, with remaining money believed in Bahamas banks where two suspects were arrested.

Bullet Through Car Endangers Conservation Agent Nearby Hickory
A 30 30 caliber bullet fired by a deer hunter narrowly missed Grundy County Conservation Agent Carl Rude as it passed through his car about four miles southwest of Hickory.
