Kissinger Near Breakthrough in Golan Talks
Damascus reports detail steps toward separating Israeli Syrian forces on the Golan Heights as Henry Kissinger arrives for talks. A buffer zone would be less than a mile to a little over a mile deep with Syrian policemen allowed into demilitarized towns along with civilians. The plan aims to thin armor behind the disengagement line and involve a UN contingent. Kissinger plans daily mediation shifts between Damascus and Jerusalem through Friday.
