Showdown Ahead Over Tax Plan Between Long Ullman
Washington AP report notes Senate Finance Chair Long and House Ways Means Chair Ullman head for clash over tax policy to aid business during recession. Long backs compromise between Carter and Ullman, House passes jobs credit for up to 24 new workers, while Long favors unlimited hiring incentive and higher investment tax credit. The Finance Committee tentatively backs a $50 rebate for many Americans and delays 1976 sick pay and foreign earnings changes until 1977 to avoid higher 1976 taxes.
