Disease Peak Passed Says CDC In Reye's Syndrome Report

The Centers for Disease Control reports the peak of Reye's Syndrome may be past with more than 140 cases across 21 states since December 15. Michigan leads with 27 cases, followed by Ohio with 15 and Wisconsin with 14. deaths average 34 percent. Cases ranged from four months to 18 years old. disease not reportable, but states were urged to file reports due to a winter surge.

Fulton Store Stake-Out Ends in Arrests for Meat Theft

An 18 month Kroger security stake-out in Fulton led to the arrest of Charles William Stiers 27 and Donald Dean Emanuel 19 on charges of stealing from Fulton Kroger. Kroger officials say thefts totaled better than 10 000 dollars in meat over the past year. Lewis W. Douglas, 79, longtime public figure and former ambassador to Great Britain, died in Tucson. Douglas served in the House for six years before becoming FDR’s budget director.

Class Of Fifty Four Planning Reunion

The Mexico High School Class of 1954 is planning a 20 year anniversary reunion for Saturday Aug. 10 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. A planning meeting was held at Deloy Isgrig home with Bernard Steinman Charles Stuart Gary Rosa and John Precht. Committee assignments were made and reports will be shared at the next 7:30 p.m. meeting at Charles Stuart home for further program planning.

Fraud Charge On Food Stamps In Missouri Case

A 2 percent mail fraud indictment was returned against former Missouri welfare caseworker Gladys Graham for allegedly sending about 4600 in food stamp authorization cards to fictitious or ineligible recipients. Federal officials said a nine month investigation into welfare fraud continues.
