ITT memo figures in antitrust confirmation hearing
The hearing centered on a memorandum by Washington lobbyist Mrs. Dita D. Beard cited by Anderson as implying Mitchell’s covert help for ITT. Kleindienst and McLaren called the memo absolutely incredible. Kleindienst denied ever discussing Mitchell, as did McLaren. Kleindienst detailed his role in filing the 1969 antitrust suits against ITT and Hartford Fire, while ITT defended there was no deal to settle the case.
