China May Buy US Grain Next Year
The Agriculture Department reports China, still rebounding from last year’s drought, may need to continue importing grain through mid-1974 to meet rising food demand. Despite a bumper wheat crop, drought cut other grain output, with wheat imports for the year ending June 30 at nearly six million tons, about 220 million bushels, double last year.

Missouri Cattlemen Hear Marketing Boost Plan at Tan-Tar-A
C T Lierheimer urged Missouri cattlemen to capture a larger share of final sale price by feeding 650 to 700 pound feeders with locally grown silage and haulage rather than lighter weights. He cited adding 150000 pounds of beef from 1500 cattle on 200 acres with strict crop and cattle management. Alan King of Dadeville framed beef as a use for cropland.

Soybeans Top Corn As Cash Crop
Washington AP Soybeans topped corn as a cash crop in 1972 with soybeans worth about 4.1 billion dollars while corn cash sales were 3.3 billion. The farm value of corn reached about 7 billion, but much of that corn stays on farms for feeding. Soybeans are almost entirely cash sold due to processing needs.
