Reds Spoil Gibson 3000th Strikeout Moment

Cincinnati outfielder George Foster hit a two out double in the 12th inning to beat St. Louis 6-4, spoiling Bob Gibson’s bid for history as he joined Walter Johnson with 3000 career strikeouts. Gibson lasted 6 12 innings and received poor defensive support as the Reds swept the three game series. Foster said the hit was likely on a breaking ball, while Pena admitted missing on the first pitch.
