War Issue Up To Split Dozen
Washington AP reports a dozen House members split on the Cooper Church amendment to limit U.S. actions in Cambodia. The House refused to direct conferees to back the Senate version, signalling a tough conference ahead as Senate supporters back the measure amid broader antiwar sentiment and skepticism of the White House troop policy. The vote highlighted a divided chamber and set the stage for a lengthy negotiation over military aid and Cambodia powers.
