Prison Problems Highlight Missouri Corrections Strain

Jefferson City AP William G Miller director of corrections told the House Appropriations Committee that large concentrations of troublesome inmates are the main system problem. He said transfers between Moberly and Jefferson City are used to manage aggression, and noted six new programs started without extra funds. A separate item reports Rep Earl Schlef filing a bill to lower the legal age of majority to 18 to replace earlier 18 drinking-age bills, with committee hearings set.
