Van-Far Studies Tax Levy Increase
Van-Far School District reviewing next year’s budget after 10 snow days paused classes. Supt. William Young said the levy may be set at the Feb 24 meeting, with action not certain. The district, operating at one of the region’s lowest tax rates, may face higher costs from utilities and unemployment pay while voters decide on an April levy and two new board members.

Mrs J B Galloway received the grand representative commission to Minnesota at the 37 District official inspection held January 20 in Mexico. She serves Arbela Chapter No 12 in Laddonia as treasurer and has held offices including worthy matron secretary and others. Attending members from Arbela Chapter included Mrs Alvin Kelly and others. The next meeting was announced for Tuesday evening. The Cheerful Homemakers Club met with 11 members and one guest. A community card party is planned for February 13 at 12:30 p.m. at the Farber building with a carry in dinner. A basket dinner honored January birthdays at the Hanna home.

Wellsville Park Board plans distribute a community and student surveys this month and next. Mary Ann Burkhalter and Melanie Brown will handle student distribution with principal Owen Church. residents will receive surveys February 13 via Boy Scouts with Russell Davis, and pickups run February 20. Kiwanis Lions and local clubs assist in door visits and mail drops to rural residents, aiming to guide a park and recreation program reflecting citizen wishes.
