Lagoon Death Ruled Accident
An Audrain County coroner's jury ruled that the death of four year old Stephen Chamness of Salmons in Mexico was an accidental drowning. The boy fell through ice into a four foot deep lagoon near his home in a mobile home court during a mid winter warm spell. The jury urged that city or state laws require a chain link fence with a locking gate around lagoons near populated areas.
