Six Chance Co workers retire after long service
Six long time A B Chance Company employees retired last week after 11 to 45 years of service. They left with retirement savings accounts totaling nearly 500000 from the Chance Employees Savings and Profit Sharing Fund. Named retirees are Austin Quisenberry Art Houston Joe Townsend D C Hubbard Emma Palmer and Lester Brooks. Quisenberry long with nearly 45 years served in multiple production roles and as acting foreman in the machine shop. He credited profit sharing for his substantial savings and planned a quiet future with travel. Houston helped grow sales from 400000 to about 90 million annually and plans to stay active in advertising and perhaps painting and travel. Townsend worked in the piston rings and foundry before leading the hardware and anchor assembly stockroom and plans to fish and take odd jobs. Hubbard, a 37 year veteran credited with 57 patents and IEEE leadership, plans further professional activity rather than retirement. Palmer, the senior woman at 31 years, worked in accounting and valued profit sharing while taking time to recover health. Brooks, an 11 year veteran heat treater, looked forward to staying busy and credited profit sharing with future support. Two others left with accounts for the year end.
