Puppies May Cause Human Itch Says Dermatologist
CHICAGO AP A skin specialist at an American Academy of Dermatology meeting linked several itch outbreaks to dogs. Maj Ernest N Charlesworth and colleagues traced 15 human itch cases to five mongrel puppies from a litter of eight. He noted dog mites do not propagate in humans and suggested a allergic dermatitis from dog contact. He warned untreated infected animals keep posing skin risks to people and that humans may acquire dermatitis from contaminated environments.
