Chairman Rejects Ford Offer On Kissinger Contempt

Washington AP An offer from President Ford to end contempt action against Secretary Kissinger was rejected by Rep Otis Pike chair of the House intelligence committee. Irish Gunmen Offered Food For Hostage

London police reported IRA gunmen holding a 54 year old postal inspector and his 53 year old wife hostage in a northwest London apartment offered to swap the woman for food and cigarettes. Officers said no trade would include the gunmen’s demand to fly to Ireland and that any escape would be to prison. The siege, tied to the assassination of Ross McWhirter, left nine dead and over 200 injured in a wave of London violence. Authorities believe the gunmen number three to four, possibly including Michael Wilson. The hostages John and Sheila Matthews remained in the second floor living room as hundreds of security personnel surrounded the building.
