ACP Spending To Be Held To $85 Million
Washington AP The Agriculture Department will cap next year’s Agricultural Conservation Program spending at 85 million dollars, less than half of the 175 million authorized by Congress. The plan funds 50 to 75 percent cost sharing for soil and water conservation projects and relies on local committees to select practices to be funded. Congress has repeatedly restored funds after attempts to cut the program, with officials predicting continued pressure to maintain full funding in 1976.

Propose End To Ban on Ads By Lawyers
A committee of the American Bar Association recommended ending the long standing ban on lawyer advertising. The plan would allow biographical data fields specialties and fees in newspapers radio and TV with limits against false or misleading claims. The ABA will review the proposals before a February House of Delegates meeting in Philadelphia. President Lawrence E. Walsh warned he holds advertising in low regard but says market pressure and a pending suit push toward change. Consumer groups expect price competition to reduce fees for personal legal services. Current rules only permit listing name address and office number in directories.
