Conferees Agree To Extend Income Tax Cuts For 1977
Senate House conferees reached accord to extend individual income tax cuts through 1977 while tackling a broad tax revision bill. The package preserves a $35 per person credit or 2 percent of the first 9,000 of taxable income, with a refundable work bonus up to 400 dollars for families earning up to 8,000. Frozen withholding rates likely extended another month. The North Carolina New River hydro project pits environmental advocates against the measure, with a Senate vote anticipated later.
