The nominating committee of the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce reported four candidates for the board for three years. Nominated were H. L. Sonny Humphrey of Kaiser Refractories, Everett S. Van Matre, attorney, William Dick Holly of Wetterau Inc, and Jerry Brown of Missouri Power and Light Co. The slate was announced in the monthly Insight newsletter mailed yesterday.
Washington AP reports a lame duck session likely after the November vote as Ford and Mills fail to resolve financing for a multibillion dollar national health insurance plan. Mills says no consensus now on voluntary versus compulsory coverage or funding from new taxes or general revenues.
