If nitrate is high, feed with grain or hay and avoid adding urea. Urea can lower protein cost only with good silage and low nitrate.
Washington AP report notes fresh vegetable production down 5 percent overall this summer, with processing supply up. celery down 16 percent, sweet corn down 5 percent, lettuce down 6 percent, while early summer tomatoes rise 14 percent. canning crops up 5 percent with gains in snap beans, sweet corn and tomatoes.

Midyear price around 41, last year 19.4. Manmade fibers and weak world demand reduced wool use, but world market is improving. Prices may rise slowly as synthetic fiber competition continues.
