iGroup Challenges NFO Leadership in Des Moines
A grass roots movement within the National Farmers Organization seeks to oust long time president Oren Lee Staley and current leadership. About 50 delegates from at least five states plan a campaign to replace top officers, claiming 1/4 to 1/3 of the membership supports change. They aim to raise funds, sell lapel buttons, and press for responsive leadership amid ongoing SEC litigation and slow trade amid the case.

Indira's Bills Strip Courts of Power
New Delhi India AP Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's government pushed sweeping constitutional amendments curtailing court review of emergency decrees and arrests. The measures pass 336 0 amid laughter and move to the upper house, centralizing powers and shielding Gandhi from a Supreme Court ruling. The changes bar cases against arrests under the June 26 emergency and make retroactive changes to the electoral code, expanding detention and review limits.
