Memo links LBJ aide to milk price deal
James R. Jones, then LBJ appointments secretary, claimed a $40,000 yearly milk industry job arose from pressuring the Agriculture Department to back a milk price supports action. He now says there was no White House pressure and Johnson was not involved. The memo, filed with Senate Watergate files, was later repudiated by Jones.

Eagleton Bill Would Eliminate Buzzer and Interlock
Washington AP reported Senators Buckley and Eagleton introduced a bill to end the seat belt buzzer interlock in new cars, removing the federal requirement while letting manufacturers offer it as an option. The measure labels the regulation big brotherism and questions its coercive reach. Separately, former Army Gen Westmoreland is undergoing voice rest at Walter Reed Hospital for persistent laryngitis.
