Kleindienst recalls little on ITT talks in hearing
Acting Atty Gen Kleindienst declined memory of calls and a meeting with White House aide Peter Flanigan where ITT settlement terms were discussed. He said discussions were insignificant and not material to his view that Richard J. McLaren would handle the case, as Senate committees weigh his nomination. A recall vote followed amid probes into the ITT settlement and its links to convention funding.

Hearnes Seeks Free Delegates for Dem Nomination
Missouri leaders weigh Muskie bid as primary results dim his chances. Sen. Eagleton calls Muskie still the favorite, yet a long shot for the nomination. Gov. Hearnes proposes an uncommitted Missouri delegation to let developments guide convention decisions. Symington remains publicly supportive of Muskie. Eagleton sees Muskie as most unity-focused. Hearnes says Missouri could spare only up to three convention delegates.
