Mrs M A Gibson president of the Mexico Arts and Crafts Club chaired a Macrame program at Garfield Community Center on Thursday afternoon. Members discussed nominating a candidate for Outstanding Young Women of Mexico with the May meeting to announce the winner. Mrs Larry Kimbel hosted the session.
Mr and Mrs Harry Burwell of Wellsville longtime Shrine leader were honored at a Shrine party at Burroughs Masonic Temple. The event marked the first Shrine meeting after 1972 73 officer elections with Albert Lawson and wife in charge and a slate of members assisting in the program. A new ballot box was presented to the Shrine by Mrs Burwell with gifts from several supporters. Refreshments followed the program in the temple dining room.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd Stephens of Route 1 Thompson will be honored at a farewell party Friday April 28 at the 4 H Center. Cedar Grove Extension Club hosts for Audrain County couple. They plan to move to Arkansas Sunday. Stephens, a carpenter for over 25 years, joins friends for finger foods and card games.
Audrain County Historical Society members will travel by chartered bus to Powell Hall in St. Louis on Friday May 5 for a concert by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. The trip includes luncheon and a return to Mexico. total cost is 12 dollars. Seats remain for members, with details through the museum office or by mail.
The Rev Marvin Jones officiated a 7 o clock double ring ceremony uniting Miss Linda Kay Vance and Clifford Wayne Worley at Friendship Baptist Church. Miss Vance wore white lace and daisies in a taffeta gown, with maid of honor Patty Reams and best man Anthony Worley. Guests included Elizabeth Landrum and Roy Vance. A reception followed at the church dining hall. The couple, graduates of local high schools in 1970, reside in Auxvasse after both earning positions in Missouri.
More than 50 letters have been sent to Hardin Club members announcing its annual luncheon on Saturday May 20 at Richardson Hall Hardin Junior High School. The event starts with an 11 30 a m gathering and noon luncheon. reservations to Mrs Clark Gibbs by May 17. The Sith scholarship winner will be announced. Miss Susan Cornett a Central Methodist College Fayette student was 1971 recipient.
Final day for ticket sales Friday April 28 for the Mexico Women’s Club luncheon style show The Feminine You in ’72. Luncheon at 1 p m in First Presbyterian Church Activities Hall, followed by the style show. Tickets $3 from club members or by calling 581 6020 or 81 6732.
