MacArthurs Movements Near Bacolor Luzon

Advices from Cal Vet dated Aug 11 report Gen. MacArthur taking the ninth regiment a battalion of the twenty second and a detachment of the first artillery near Bacolor Friday morning. Troops entered unopposed as insurgents fled. A ten mile march wore them out. they rest at San Rita and move on. Lieut Hazard with five scouts reached Angeles but a minor rebel attack led to reinforcements, and Wheaton ordered not to occupy Angeles. Hazard withdrew as 700 rebels appeared.

J B Buxton a 49 year old attorney at law, suffering kidney troubles, committed suicide at a hotel in East Waco by cutting his throat with a razor. He left a wife, no children, and had moved from Kansas City to practice law two years ago in Waco. The body was found by a milkman at 5 am.

In Cleveland Ohio on August 11 William Caple a non union motorman fired five shots at William Little a teamster on the Central avenue line. Little grabbed a hatchet and struck Caple in the head causing a severe wound. Caple was jailed for shooting to kill and Little was taken to the hospital.
