Taabani Washington Aug 4 Indian Commissioner Jones issues final guidance for the Dawes commission enrolling citizens of the five civilized tribes. Instructions emphasize Mississippi Chortows and descendants who moved from Mississippi to Choctaw and Chickasaw lands before rolls were completed. Testimony on identifications must be forwarded for final department determination.
An explosion in a gas main laid by Economic Gas of Chicago near Winamac Ind killed Howard Hoard and severely burned several others. Wim Stratton and William Tunis were thrown into the air Tunis with a fractured collarbone Stratton unharmed but his rescue of Tunis scorched his clothing and burned his back. Farmer Smith and his son near the scene suffered extensive burns. Missouri Pacific Railroad plans coal mining cessation after Oct 1 with contract to lowest bidder. The battleship Texas and cruiser Brooklyn sailed for Bar Harbor.
The State Association of District Medical Examiners organized in Waco on Aug. 9 to elevate medical science, public health and weed out uncredentialed practitioners. Dr. William Pannotli was elected president with Dr. C. E. Smith as vice president and Dr. Roimmins as secretary and treasurer. The group aims to create district examiners and press for a state board of medical examiners.
Authorities in New Laredo Mexico are holding an inquest into the death of Methodist minister Vincent Rubin whose body was found. Early indications show no evidence of murder and the cause remains a mystery. Rubin was well regarded in Laredo with many friends following the case.
Bulah Wilson a mulatto woman was shot and killed here Monday night while she and her husband slept in the same bed near a window. A pistol fired through the screen window struck her in the heart and killed her instantly. A warrant was issued for a negro charged with the deed but he has not yet been arrested.
In New York 211 delegates from 104 unions met at Clarendon hall to discuss forming a permanent labor political party. William J. O'Brien, Granite Cutters Union, was elected president with I. J. Henry as chairman. Other officers include Daly, Bobmn, McCarthy, and Cooney.
Commissioner Wight of the Texas relief committee received a letter from Gov. Sayers thanking the District of Columbia for a $1000 contribution to the flood relief fund. Sayers pledged the money will be used where it does the most good for the sufferers.
The Maloney family reunion closed yesterday near Wolfa City, Texas after starting last Saturday. Attendees from Dallas Bonhum Sulphur Springs Haskell Ladonia Commerce and local residents numbered 104. Organizers decided to hold the gathering here again next year.

In Jalna a man-eating tiger terrorized a garden and tennis area. Capt. B G Burton led the hunt aided by a loyal bull terrier that fought the beast, saved the captain’s life, and suffered severe injuries. The tiger was finally killed with a precise shot, and Burton praised the dog, noting there isn’t enough money in India to pay such a brave animal.
