Shuttle flight ends at Kennedy after 11 major science missions
The 5.8 million mile shuttle mission began March 4 with 11 major science experiments worth nearly 100 million dollars. NASA officials praised the flight as a success though a record endurance goal was not reached. Commander John Casper said the crew was pleased with the flight and the mission ended smoothly with Columbia landing in a gusty morning at Kennedy Space Center.
