AMA backs off support for insurance in health plan
The AMA House of Delegates retreated from backing mandatory employer paid health insurance and rejected a national health board as part of Clinton’s plan. The shift cites concerns small employers may be driven out of business. The group previously supported employer paid coverage four years ago. James Hoffa joins Teamsters Michigan staff aiming for 1996 presidency. He leaves labor law practice to assist Michigan Joint Council 43 and Local 337 in Detroit. Jackson to testify in defense over bed sharing with boy
Michael Jackson will return to the United States to testify in his own defense on sexual abuse charges and admit sharing a bed with a 13 year old boy not sex but sleepovers. His lawyer Bert Fields described Jackson as living the life of a 12 year old and said sleepovers were common among young people. The boy’s attorney Larry Feldman claims Jackson manipulated and abused the child for more than three months starting from May 1992, including visits to Neverland and a shared bed at the Mirage Hotel.
