Beating defendant gets 10 year term
In Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John Ouderkirk sentenced Damian Williams to the maximum 10 year term for attacking Reginald Denny and four other victims on April 29 1992 the first day of the LA riots. Co defendant Henry Watson received probation and community service while Williams faces parole eligibility after four years.

Rise in behavior problems among American youth
A study led by Thomas Achenbach finds behavior and emotional problems among children and adolescents rising since the mid-1970s. Across 118 problem behaviors, from daydreaming to low energy and unhappiness, the clinical range jumped from 10 percent in 1976 to 18 percent in 1989, with increases seen across economic groups and ages 7 to 16.

Veteran Secret Service agent named new chief director
