Urbanites ponder chicken and bug-scrubbing options for scorpions
The piece notes that urban residents resist keeping chickens to curb scorpions but finds chickens can help with scorpion control if kept in modest numbers. It quotes University of Arizona entomology expert Dave Langston cautioning about practicality, noise, predators, and penning at night. A black-light bug-smasher is proposed as effective, especially in August when females carry young. An alternative is using a giant centipede, though many may find it repulsive, leaving the scorpion problem unresolved.
