Yugoslavian Student Denied Valedictorian Honor in Georgia
An ethnic Albanian student from Kosovo, Adelina Kabashi, who had the highest GPA at Crawford County High School, was stripped of valedictorian honors by the Crawford County Board of Education. The board declared Connie Moncrief valedictorian and Bridgette Blasingame salutatorian, citing inflated grades for Kabashi after a transfer. Kabashi, supported by guardian Sue Thornton, lamented the decision as unfair.

Water added to chicken packaging under review by USDA

The study calls for possible labeling, noting up to 12 percent added water, with consumer costs estimated at around 12 to 32 cents per four pound bird. Industry defends chilling as bacteria control and argues most water escapes by packaging.
