Blacks Plot a Race War in Arkansas Lynching Spree
From the Arkansas Gazette Texarkana March 23 wild excitement grips Little River county as seven negro men are lynched by whites after the assassination of planter James A Stockton by negro General Duckett. Informers warned, plots uncovered, others pursued and killed across various locales. Thirty three alleged plotters named, likely more killed in thickets.

Excursionists Return From Port Arthur Stop at Mena
A train of eight Pullman cars bringing excursionists from Port Arthur reached Mena at 3 p m yesterday and stayed about a half hour. The Third Missouri Regiment band played a patriotic concert in front of Hubb grocery as crowds cheered. At 8 45 pm a special train with road officials and reporters moved north after a three hour delay, preventing a planned town tour.

Arrest in murder case nets suspect in Van Buren
Sheriff R W Johnson received word that James Lamon alias James Cogbron was wanted for murder at Van Buren. A man matching the description was found hours later and arrested, with Van Buren police alerted. Johnson believes the suspect is the right man and expects an officer tonight to identify him and take him to the crime scene.

Open Session Hosts Floral Love Tale Guessing at Roach Home
Mrs. N. M. Roach entertained about twenty members of the Mena Womans Literary Club in open session on De Queen street yesterday afternoon. A guessing game titled Floral Love Tale pleased attendees, with Mrs. C. H. Byers winning the donors and Mrs. Dr. Dagg finishing last. Luncheon was served amid fine china and flowers as Mrs. Roach plans an extended visit to Colorado next week. In a separate incident, J. B. Legate lost control of a delivery wagon on De Queen street when a runaway caused minor damage and scrapes to him and the horse, with no major injuries or damage.
