Port Arthur Pike Poem Warns of Ragged Rail Line

It lampoons delays and unsafe conditions from Quincy to the river route, warns travelers to avoid the line, and ends with a grim note about a casket waiting for those who ride the Port Arthur line.

Road to Hades and a Port Arthur critique, plus a catarrh cure ad
The piece blends a satirical poem attacking a paper called the Sawyer and its Durham influence with a mock legal oath about Hall's Catarrh Cure and an orange sales-like testimonial. It shifts to a Detroit Free Press excerpt about a cold boy selling papers, highlighting hardship yet quiet perseverance beneath moral reflection.
