Cantaloupes by Boat Load Reach Van Buren Wharf

The steamer Myrtle B. unloaded 400 crates of Arkansas Traveler cantaloupes at Van Buren, shipped for eastern markets. Owner George T. Williams, Fort Smith Elevator, farms 95 acres near Lavaca, sending cargo via Kansas City express car to rail at Van Buren, with plans for daily round trips between his farm and the river port. The notice also includes an advertisement for Dr M A Simmons Liver Medicine.

Happily Wedded Hasney and Goss at Presbyterian Church

Jh J Hasney of Pittsburg and Gulf force and Miss Bertha Goss of Fort Smith wed at the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday night at 9.00. The couple returned to a festive welcome with lanterns. The general baggage master’s office, formerly in Kansas City for the northern connection, has moved to the Pittsburg and Gulf operation’s central division. Painter Reshaped Town Life Then Vanished in Texarkana

Local painter known as Bob T M lived in the town's early days and moved to Texarkana. After mental distress, he was sent to an asylum, released, returned home, and later disappeared for two days. He was found in the woods near Texarkana with fatal head injuries and was buried.

Railroad Hospital Secured Near Stilwell Park

Chief Surgeon Dr. Ayer will arrive next week to plan hospital construction. Dr. J R Davis, returning from Kansas City, confirms ground donated by Town Site Company near Stilwell Park, a 280 by 300 foot lot with healthful air and panoramic county views. Very Good Prospects at Camp Wilder Shaft

W A Batson reports progress on a new shaft at Camp Wilder with test digs showing gold values. At two and a half feet the ore runs three dollars per ton, at six to nine feet three hundred thirty eight dollars per ton with sixty cents silver and three dollars and seventy five cents copper per ton. The shaft is thirteen feet deep with more tests today as rock shifts from stratified to solid. A malarial risk is noted but can be reduced by Dr Simmons Liver Medicine.
