Crowded service honors Rev. C. L. Mortimer, late rector killed in an auto accident near Colonsay on Sunday afternoon November 18. Knights of Pythias attended as Rev. Barnes spoke on the life of a devout worker, urging followers to imitate his faith and kindness.

Beatty Quarter Sold as Historic Carrot River Landmark

Reginald Beatty sold the south west quarter and forth half of section 20 in township 44 range 18, 480 acres four miles southeast of town to John Younghusband. Younghusband sold his homestead six miles south of town. Robert Richardson bought J. Efants quarter north of his farm. Cephes Rosob purchased W. Craig farm four miles southeast. Victory Loan Subscriptions Rise in Melfort District

Subscriptions to the Victory Loan in the Melfort district totaled 131 400 last night with over 115 000 raised in recent days. Large gifts included 26 000 6 000 and multiple 5 000 2 000 and 1 000 subscriptions. Melfort leads the district and organizers plan three busy days to maintain the position.

An organization meeting in Melfort for Andrew Knox union candidate was held in the town hall Saturday evening. The executive outlined a vigorous campaign with planned meetings across the district including Rothwell, Now Mt Forest, St Brieux, Milver Park, Fairy Glen, Central Park, Willowdale, Queens Park, Naisberry, Bagley, and a Knox address at 8 PM in Melfort.

Provincial Red Cross Annual Meeting Report

The Gashatchewas Branch of the Provincial Red Cross held its annual meeting in Regios to review receipts for the year ending October. The year-end total reached $451,000 with October closing at $6,847. A notable portion supported humanitarian efforts and youth programs.

Melfort Girl Weds In Winnipeg Calm Ceremony

Adelaide Lee of Melfort married Arthur H. Toseland of Winnipeg at St Luke's church Winnipe on Saturday November 24. Canon Bertal Heeny officiated with Nightingale relatives as witnesses. The couple will reside in Winnipeg.

Knox Addresses Star City Audience in Union Campaign

Knox spoke to a large Star City crowd with many ladies present endorsing the Union government. He cited his Regina visit and criticized his opponent Mr Calder for delaying a constituency speech. Local speakers including J A McDonald and Rev W R Tapton urged unity and temperance in the Liberal leans toward Moland.

Parish honors returning Pte. B OConnor with rosary

On Thursday evening members of the Catholic church in Sear Outy gathered at the Hartnett home to welcome Pte. B OConnor back from two years of service in France. Rev Father Rochon spoke and presented a rosary and manicure set from the Altar Society and parish well wishes. OConnor thanked the group and the evening featured social time and refreshments by the ladies.

Methodist Church Fowl Supper Plans Announced

The Anniversary services in connection with the Methodist church will be held on Sunday when the Rev. J W Pratt of Saskatoon will be the preacher. The choir will render special music. The annual fowl supper and bazaar start at 3 30 with many fancy articles for sale. The fowl supper will be served from 8 o clock.
