Thanksgiving services were held at the Methodist Church on Banday Inst. The church was decorated by the Wesley Club members with grain fruit and vegetables arranged as gifts for the occasion.
A congregational meeting at St James Presbyterian Church is set for Friday at 8 PM to decide if the congregation is ready to call a minister. Rev T KR Young of Tisdale will preside as moderator. The gathering aims to determine readiness to proceed with calling a minister.

Mr and Mrs Thomas Nevison and family met Trooper R Nevison at Prince Albert Sunday as he returned from a six month furlough overseas. Nevison served in the army service corps, stationed at a French base for seventeen months, with adventures beyond the front lines. Pte Charles Nevison, nicknamed Did, works in the pay office at Seaford, England.
Ottawa reports that soldiers return from the front with settled daily routines. They adopt regular rising and bedtimes, meals, shaving, and other orderly habits learned in training. The disciplined schedule minimizes delay, confusion, and strengthens fighting readiness.
The annual meeting reviewed 1917 work and approved secretary and treasurer reports. Officers elected include Hon. Pres. G B Johnston M L A Pres Rev O Barnes and other roles. a new executive to meet Oct 10. A comparative 1916 1917 financial statement shows receipts 1402 91 and expenditures 69712 478 with balances in bank.
During 1916 1917 the Red Cross society of Melfort added 18 life members including Mrs J H Millard and Mr J B Dar nin. Pins and certificates were sent from Regina. Teas run by local groups and ministers raised 1089.20 with many donations of baked goods and knitted items.
Lieut Johnston of the 188th Battalion was killed in action. Before enlistment he served as principal of Blaine Like high school. He was widely known for a famous incident at the school when objections were raised to patriotic songs.
Wesley Club members honor boys overseas by reading letters prepared for the trenches. Miss McLean outlines the work ahead and the club’s plans to support servicemen.
Students must enroll at once for the term reporting to Principal Donaghue. Those delayed beyond the current week without sufficient zeal will not be admitted.

The British Red Cross asks for support on October 18 1917 to raise 16000000 for continued wartime mercy. Canada and Saskatchewan underscore strong past response and urge renewed generosity to aid sick and wounded across war regions.
James Claguett shipped 10 cars yesterday with consignments from Kinistino Shar City and Tisdsle H EB. Keddy led the convoy to Wisolpay while M McPhail completed a two car shipment.
