United Service of Thanksgiving Draws Large Local Attendance

Town Council Announces Rink Caretaker Appointee

Town council members Claggett Wild McEwen and Lancaster presided as W H Tipney Hugh Bennett and C J Pollock submitted caretaker bids. Pollock won the position and council business proceeded quickly before discussing the new electric light by law slated for final adoption at the next meeting.

The Ministerial Association announces Thank Offering Day for Sunday December 8 in Melfort churches. After six weeks of Church closures due to the Spanish influenza, citizens are urged to place bank offerings in envelopes and mail or deliver them to local churches. Melfort Pupils Win Medals For Essays

The Department of Education offered two medals per high school for essays on The 1918 Victory Loan. Few essays were written due to the flu. Medals went to Miss Flo Nevison and another student as chosen by Rev. W. R. Tanton Rev. C. Barnes and Principal Jones.

All Saints Church to Hold Memorial and Service

All Saints Church announces a memorial service next Sunday evening December 8 at 7 p.m. for church members who died of influenza in recent weeks. The Church of England service at Stoney Creek School resumes next Sunday at 3 p.m. with Morning Prayer at 11 a.m. Sunday School and Bible Class at 2:30 p.m. and Memorial Service at 7 p.m.

Mr Frank Roland Austin noted pianist will perform in Melfort on Tuesday December 10 under the Musi cal Club formed to elevate music lovers. The club plans a prominent artist each month and aims for an open recital. Manager Pollock says ice making will start next Monday and, with good weather, skating and curling will begin soon.

Doll Auction Netted 500 for St Dunstan’s Hostel

A doll dressed by Mrs. Mew of Melfort was auctioned in London for 500 dollars to aid St Dunstan’s Hostel for Blind Soldiers and Sailors. Letters from the Blind Soldiers and Sailors Care Committee acknowledged the gift after transit delays.

The notice lists several local deaths and funeral details from Kinistino and nearby areas. Mrs H B Hendricks died after paralytic declines, survived by her husband two sons and two daughters. John Moen died November 10. Mrs Francis Skelton aged unknown died November. Mrs Roy Rupert of Twickenham died from pneumonia after influenza. their funerals at Pleasan tdale and related locations.
