Telegraph from Tommy Robertson in Prince Rupert confirms action for libel against The News Telegram. The paper previously linked Robertson to the Calgary murderer, identifying him as the same person who allegedly published a life history of the youth.
The Hudsons Bay Company stores department expands westward with plans for a large modern department building in Regina. Ottawa June 14 The Presbyterian general assembly approved arbitration by unanimous standing vote. They accepted the resignation of Rev Dr McLaren as General Secretary of Missions and appointed Rev A S Grant of Toronto as his successor. The assembly also approved an appeal to the people on church union with a common ballot for churches and a vote by March 1912. All adherents above 18 are eligible to vote.

Ottawa reports the Duke of Connaught will sail for Quebec on the Empress of Britain October 6 arriving likely October 12. He will become Canada's next Governor General and the government plans a fitting reception in the capital.

J McEachern of the Bank of British North America visited Medicine Hat on private business. He noted the city’s growth and suggested a branch could open if the C P R shops move in. He condemned round-the-clock street lighting as waste and urged local reform.

A Calgary delegation led by Mayor Mitchell and backed by Winnipeg businessmen met William Whyte to press for Calgary to receive the new C P R shops, amid fear Medicine Hat may win the location. Whyte said no decision was reached and another Calgary meeting with Sir Thomas Shaughnessy would follow.
