Toronto NRC approves $3 slug to extend oil life for cars
The National Research Council licenses Positive Metals and Alloys Ltd to market a calcium alloy slug that lets engines run 20 000 miles without an oil change. Tests show two NRC cars reached 22 000 miles with minimal fresh oil. The device attaches to the oil pan drain tap and keeps lubrication unless contaminants enter the oil. The chinooks in Southern Alberta have ended and very cold air remains entrenched on the Western Prairies. Saturday will be cloudy with occasional light snow. Overnight lows from 30 below in the north to 15 to 20 below in the south, temperatures staying below zero all day.
