Ottawa reports Defence Minister Campney will spend Christmas in Sicily with his wife after NATO talks in Paris. Transport Minister Marler and Mines Minister Prudham head to Barbados and elsewhere as they celebrate the 1955 Christmas and the coming year in warm locales.
A 13 year old boy born in Saskatoon and living with his grandparents in Hat receives a bright red tricycle from the Associated Canadian Travellers and Pythian Sisters. The gift aims to strengthen his legs as he uses crutches and dreams of riding to school. Presenters include ACT crippled children's chair Jimmy Reid and director Howie Burman. milk tickets were also given through the Pythian Sisters.

The Canadian Press reports Canadians will stay home for Christmas Eve with many private celebrations and midnight church services. Travel is heavy with about 30 extra Trans-Canada flights and more trains and buses added, while blizzards in Ontario and Saskatchewan may reduce highway traffic.
