Blood will tell in Orange County trotter racing tale
The 1927 Orange County circuit, famed for its trotter races, highlights long odds and record breaks in a report from Middletown. A cornerstone tale follows painter George Ford Morris and a seven month colt later sold in Lexington for 5250 dollars, illustrating pedigrees and buyer insight in horse stock markets. A quip on women and rouge ends the piece.

Electric light insect eradication plan tested at Geneva station
The New York State Agricultural Experiment Station at Geneva unveils a method to destroy crop pests by high tension electric wires and light traps. April through September trials target codling moth, cherry maggot, rose aphid, and cut and cabbage worms with minimal effort, aided by electrocuted insects and specialized lighting. Researchers from entomology, pathology, and horticulture join the effort, aiming to light farms at night and extend work hours in pursuit of pest control.

The Third Golf Club and the Burden of Bossing
Kellygrams discusses a new adjustable golf club that replaces seven clubs and ponders why a friend resists the idea. He argues that golf, like polo or social status, thrives on attendants, devices, and the sense of importance from managing a staff, making life feel charmingly burdensome.
