George VanPeursem aged 74, a Holland immigrant who arrived in 1871, is renewing his subscription. A pioneering farmer and church supporter, he helped develop Sioux County and now owns substantial land. He and his wife have four sons and a daughter. one son ministers in Holland MI.

Harsh 1917 conscription notice urges male registration
The notice calls on every male resident aged between sone and thirty to register on Tuesday June 5 1917 under the new conscription law. It states sickness rain or bad roads do not excuse registration and penalties include jail for nonregistration or misstatement of age or domestic responsibility.

Picnic Plans Rain Spoils Schoolhouse Picnic
The Grammar Room and High School room planned a Friday picnic near Lake Fitzpatrick farm but rain forced them back to the schoolhouse where they finished. The Primary and Intermediate rooms also held their picnic there with sad pansali prepared for the children.
