Third Installment of Loan to Great Britain

Killed by Own Invention in Rochester Home

Carl P. Van Vechten, 26, son of the president of a large milling company, was electrocuted while testing a device like an electric chair at his residence. He wore an improvised straitjacket, attached chains and handcuffs, and managed the current by teeth on a chain. The failing chain broke as he turned on the current and he died alone.
