The fragmentary text hints at ongoing publication adjustments and community reporting.
Henry De Jong won the mayor's seat in Maurice with 28 votes to Andrew Vander Stoep's 17. Four councilmen Gerritt Brink Charles De Groot Henry Bononink and Dick Vander Berg were re elected without opposition. Ford Holt was elected to join H M Mensiak on the council without opposition.
The Central College Glee Club, a 14 member musical group, performed at the town hall Saturday night featuring band and orchestra numbers, a 12 voice chorus, solos and quartets. Attendance included Ary Vander Stoep, assistant manager, and various local residents noted in coverage.
The Sunday storm wrecked the telephone system as heavy snow broke wires and even poles. Johannes Mieras and his men worked to restore service this week. Dr J D Oggel and Mr and Mrs Charles De Groot took Hale Matilda De Groot to Orange City for an X ray on Tuesday. The Ladies Aid of the American Reformed church held a Thursday meeting with Mrs Henry Vande Brake hosting. Tom Bannon, Maurice resident, was in town last week with Robinson's crew repairing at the Great Northern.
