Thousands unite for Hands Across Southland event
About 7000 people of diverse races joined hands along Governors Highway and Sauk Trail for five minutes, aiming to show a positive future. U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. lauded the crowd as people of good will and urged equality in economic prosperity. The Rich Township Unity Coalition organized the event, with Park Forest singers and Rich Central High School Choir performing at closing ceremonies.
