Devon hit run trial begins jury selected

Richton Park Subdivision green lighted for 300 homes

West Highland Homes wins final approval from Richton Park Board for annexation rezoning and a special use permit to develop 213 single detached and 94 attached homes south of Lakewood. Zoning will be R 2 and R 3 with brick fronts and planned unit development features. Main entrance planned off Steger Road.

School chief lauds at risk programs in Illinois

Illinois State School Superintendent Joseph Spagnolo lauded state wide efforts to aid at risk students. He noted accelerated schools show higher achievement than comparable schools and praised learning style reforms. The Illinois Network of Accelerated Schools includes 41 elementary and middle schools, with Chicago Heights Dr Charles Gavin Elementary and Blue Island Everett Intermediate among participants.

Richton Park Approves Recycling Day and Transit Appointments

Richton Park trustees approved America Recycles Day on Nov 15 to boost recycling and purchasing of recycled products. A drawing for an American green dream house is sponsored by the state and will be held Dec 15 with pledge cards due by Nov 15. The board set Halloween trick or treating hours from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and appointed Alan Frazier Sr to the Chicago South Suburban Mass Transit District, serving until Oct 14, 1998.
