Illinois targets record child support and day care aid
The Edgar administration reported a new fiscal year high in delinquent child support collections at 321 million dollars, with 70 percent to non welfare families and 30 percent to welfare families. A record 50 259 paternities were recorded, and total delinquent collections reached 2.7 billion over 23 years. Day care rates for low income families will rise statewide effective January 1, expanding subsidized slots and access. Increases also apply to Will and Cook counties under a two tier system with various per day rates and full day rises for multiple age groups. Health care provider payments will rise about 10 percent to improve KidCare and Medicaid access, including higher rates for doctors and dentists and initial exams.
