Car Crash Kills 62-Year-Old Homewood Man Near Oak Forest

A head-on collision at 158th Street and Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest killed Sidney Gottesmann, 62, after his car crossed the center line. Schaumburg resident Nancy Easterly, 28, was seriously injured and her four-month-old infant was unharmed. Firefighters were alerted at 8:15 a.m. Police identified the infant as unharmed. The nursing supervisor at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Medical Center had no further information on the injured.

Leak tampering drains private lake in Crete Township

Will County sheriff's police said a drainage gate in a private lake behind a home on Dutton Road in unincorporated Crete Township was tampered with last week. Water was released after the gate and surrounding steel tubing were damaged and the wheel went missing, with damage estimated at 200 dollars.

Burglary in Crete Township Reported to Will County Police

Items valued at about 1700 stolen from a residence on South Kings Road in the 23000 block. The burglary occurred in September but was not reported until Wednesday. Residence was unlocked. Stolen items include steel animal traps medical instruments a television VCR and a rocking chair. Police have a few suspects. A separate rape case involves a 74 year old woman described by police as attacked with a knife by a male black 20 to 30 years old 5 11 to 6 feet tall 190 pounds wearing a white shirt and black pants. Call officer Paul Griffin at 754 7131 with information.

South Chicago Heights man found innocent in assault case

Gregory Myers, 36, was found not guilty of an aggravated assault charged after an incident alleged to have occurred June 4 involving two Carnival Lanes parking lot attendants. Police said he pleaded innocent in court.

Police chase at 90 mph through Ford Heights streets

Police pursued a vehicle at speeds over 90 mph through residential areas after a report of gunfire. The car, with three passengers, fled from Halsted Street to East End Avenue then Drexel and 17th, with two passengers exiting near a weeds area. No charges announced yet.

Phone stolen from car in Flossmoor drive theft

A portable phone valued at 100 dollars was stolen from a car parked in an 1880s block on Springfield Avenue. Police said the vehicle appeared locked with no signs of forcible entry. The incident occurred Wednesday or Thursday and is being investigated.
