Parents plan federal suit over infant taken by sheriff
The Morrells' lawyers say their 7 month old son Joshua Morrell was seized by Will County sheriff’s police on orders from Assistant State’s Attorney Judith DeVriendt and given to Marine Sgt. John Howell who claimed paternity. Howell seeks visitation and custody and wants Joshua’s name changed. Contempt charges against the state’s attorney’s office were dropped as a federal civil rights suit looms, with Glasgow calling the action baseless.
